Is this fate? Part 2
This blog took a bit. Blooms has been really busy.
Start from our last blog (Click HERE to read it).
We leave for our whale watching trip. First of all we used Jayleen’s Alaska (www.jayleensalaska.com) 5 stars all the way if not 10. She picks you up, super knowledgeable and is her own female small business. I already like her😄.
We get to the dock and the first thing I see are tiny little baby Salmon, so cute.
We load onto the boat with 4 other people. Total of 7 with captain Jayleen. Highly recommend a small boat. We pull out and one of the other passengers asks Jayleen if we will see any killer whales. Jayleen replies we have a 20% chance of seeing them. The last time we saw them was two weeks ago. She put her hands in the air and wiggled her fingers as if asking the universe to help. I thought this trip was just for me, but I found out Michael was super stoked to see any killer whales. 10 minutes out we saw a pod of them with a baby swimming alongside our boat. Sign number one. But read on it gets even better. We stayed with the orcas for a little bit and then headed over to the humpbacks. Simply amazing is all I can say. I honestly don’t even know how to describe it in words. As we watched the humpbacks bubble net feeding and listen to their breathing, we had a visit from a sea Lion right next to our boat and a giant sea lion bull hanging out. We stayed and watched the humpbacks for a while and time just flew by. Jayleen said we had to head back. I’m not gonna lie, a part of me inside sort of sunk. I thought we were going to see something amazing. It still was amazing but I was looking for something more. As we headed back we were going through the channel, the waves were really big, the water was going over the boat. Michael and I stayed in the open back of the boat the whole time standing and just enjoying the smell of the salt water, being on the ocean, and looking at the amazing views.
As we were going through the channel I decided to turn around and look. As I turned around, at that moment there was a humpback breaching out of the ocean.
I was in utter a shock. I screamed “oh my God one just jumped out of the ocean!”. Jayleen whipped the boat around. By the time she stopped no one else saw the humpback, he was already underwater. I said “great nobody’s gonna believe me that I saw him breach out of the ocean.” Jayleen said she could tell by the footprint he left on the water that he breached. We circled around for a bit and he came up and slapped the water with his fin as if waving to us. He popped up around us for a little bit. As we were looking on he came up again and breached out of the ocean for Michael. Now I think that’s a sign if there ever was one.
Well guess what?
We already booked a trip next July to go to Alaska for the month. Yep, that’s right a whole month. We are going to drive a week to get there, stay in Haines for a week, take the ferry to Juneau and stay for a week, and take a week to drive home. We are taking the dogs and all the adventures that are going to come. I’m not gonna lie, it will be a test in our marriage to be with Michael 24/7 for a whole month not to mention in a van. I don’t think I have ever looked forward to something in my whole life as much as this trip. We will be looking for property to see if we really like it there. We may even take the next step and expand our vacation rental adventure. Stay tuned as I document the whole trip - the ups and downs of driving to Alaska.
P.S.
I am headed to Cabo next month to see the whales as they migrate down south for the winter. My goal in the next part of my life is to have a property where I can see whales from my balcony. Maybe 2: 1 in Alaska and one in Mexico🤭
Why does a dream have to be a dream, why can’t it be reality?
