Welcome to Meracle Acres’ Blog!
Hello! I’m Kaycee Meracle, owner and operator of Meracle Acres and Blooms in Bloom at Meracle Acres. I am so excited to start this blog. It is something I have been thinking about doing for 3 years now, and it is finally coming to reality.
A little bit about me:
I am 45 years young, and married to Michael Meracle for almost 16 years now. We have 2 beautiful chocolate Newfoundlands, 3 cats, 17 chickens and 2 honey bee hives. We live on 200 acres with 2 custom built log homes. One of which we live in, and the other an airbnb, which we rent out to families around the world.
I have 26 years experience as a floral/event designer and business owner of Blooms in Bloom. We have owned 3 stores over the years, recently deciding to do away with the original locations and build a custom floral shop and store. The best decision of my business career.
I could go on and on about my life but I don’t want to bore you in the first blog post. I will touch base through the blogs about how I have come to where I’m at today.
Meracle Acres
How did Meracle Acres come about?
Exactly 3 years ago I was running my floral business with not much happiness anymore. Employees were running me down, winter was still here, and it was a drag to come to work. I decided I needed a change otherwise I was going to close my stores and go work at Kwik Trip. Seriously! I was at the point where I wanted to just go to work, come home and not care about anything else anymore. One thing I have learned in my career is you better like what you're doing or it is not worth the headaches.
It was then I started thinking about writing a blog, but some things needed to change before that happened, big changes. And boy did that happen!
In July of 2019 we broke ground on our new floral shop. So exciting! I never even dreamed of this happening through my whole career. Now we have a huge open space floor plan for designing weddings, events and anything else.
My husband and his brother own 150 acres of property. It’s mostly farmland with some woods mixed in. Our neighbor that lived behind us (who we miss dearly) was getting ready to downsize. I mentioned to Michael that I would love to buy the property. It’s 50 acres of woods with ponds entwining throughout the property with a beautiful 5000 square foot custom built log home. He literally told me I was bat shit crazy. Sorry if any of you are offended by that. That was in fall of 2018. I like to let things marinate in my husband’s head. You see I’m kind of a big idea person and I act quickly. I knew this was not going to be a quick win. We became proud owners of the property on September 30th 2020, expanding the 150 acres to 200. It was a lot of hard work and help from our loving family who also believed in the dream.
We decided to name our property Meracle Acres. Not only do I have a cool last name, but it is a Meracle (Miracle) that we own the new property!
In the months to come we will be showcasing what is going on at Meracle Acres. From the chickens laying their eggs and some new hatchlings, to the bees buzzing around making their honey, to foraging for wild ramps, garlic, mushrooms and whatever else we can find. I’ll be sharing other great qualities I love about Meracle Acres, like watching the flowers and gardens grow, harvesting the orchard and watching the sunflowers turn their heads to the sun, seeing the dogs frolic all over the property, watching the seasons change, and all the goodies that nature produces.
I love meeting all the new guests at Meracle Acres. I can’t wait to host people who have never been here. I am so excited to wake up everyday and greet the dogs and chickens and ask them how their sleeps were. And then off to our adventure of the day, never knowing what the day will hold. From running the flower shop, to greeting new guests and of course new ideas unfolding.
Stay tuned for our seasonal classes and our foraging events. We will be posting them regularly, so be sure to book them on your calendars.
Thank you for taking the time to read our new blog and I look forward to our April blog. Cheers!
